When Liam Hemsworth approached celebrity jeweler Neil Lane to create an engagement ring for Miley Cyrus, he wanted “something unusual,” Lane tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Something really beautiful and romantic.”

What The Hunger Games star got was a 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring, handcrafted in 18-karat gold with intricately carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern. And the center stone is extra special: it’s an antique dating back to the late 19th century.

“It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890 and it’s unique and in its original form,” Lane says. “At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at because it hasn’t been re-cut to look contemporary over the years. I find that really romantic.”

Lane sculpted the gold setting to fit the shape of the diamond, and set smaller diamonds in the gold to highlight the main stone. “It’s a contemporary design based on vintage aesthetics,” he says. “The light flashes and sparkles no matter where Miley moves her hand.”

Hemsworth was happy with the final result; Lane says the two “worked back and forth and it’s everything he was looking for.” Finished just last week, it was all ready for Hemsworth’s May 31 proposal (the news of which was shared exclusively by Cyrus with PEOPLE).

For her part, Cyrus seems to be pleased, too; the starlet Tweeted Wednesday, “Thank you for all the love today. I’m happy to share this news with you all. I feel like all my dreams are coming true.”

Liam, 22, reportedly popped the question on Thursday (May 31) with a 3.5-carat diamond ring from jeweler Neil Lane.

“Life is beautiful,” Miley wrote on her Twitter account Wednesday (June 6).

Miley and Liam first met on their film The Last Song in 2009.

So Undercover will be in theatres 27th June! Unfortunately, there will be no promotion for the movie and it’s rumoured to be limited to a release of 500 theatres – I think it’s time we set up another fan promotion project!

Miley Cyrus‘ latest movie, ‘LOL,’ will be released on DVD next month. LOL,’ which costars Demi Moore, features Cyrus as a teen going through some issues with sex, drugs, drinking and generally growing up. It’s her edgiest film role yet to date.

LOL got Only released in 105 theaters, the movie didn get promoted at all, so it’s a bit unfair to chalk it up only to Cyrus’ allegedly fading star power. The limited release likely also limited fans’ ability to get to see the film at all

Hollywood Life reports that ‘LOL’ will be available on July 31 on DVD and Blu-Ray, complete with special features including audio commentary and behind-the-scenes featurettes.

In what may be brighter news for the starlet’s acting career, Cyrus’ next movie, ‘So Undercover,’ his screens on June 27. The Daily Mail reports that Cyrus learned a bit of hand-to-hand combat for the role, in which she plays an FBI agent. “I’ve been doing fighting, like learning how to box,” she said. “I have a trainer and I have bruises everywhere from, like, kicking the bags … and I’ve learned how to use guns, which was really scary.”

But Miley Cyrus’ pedal down to her local coffee shop fell flat today as she got a puncture.

Wearing a sleeveless shirt, shorts and a pair of designer Chanel espadrilles, Miley seemed untroubled by the flat tire.

And last Tuesday, she was seen visiting Manny Pacquiao’s tattoo shop in Hollywood with her brother Trace and she left a few hours later with a huge bandage over her arm.

‘I’ve been doing fighting, like learning how to box…mostly like street fighting, so knowing how to, like, if someone comes up from behind you, being able to defend yourself,’ she said in a recent interview.

‘I have a trainer and I have bruises everywhere from, like, kicking the bags… And I’ve learned how to use guns, which was really scary.’
